today's blog is all about movie reviews. i have just watched some amazing (and some not-so-amazing) movies the past days. catching up on the movies i have missed in years. and these are the movie reviews i'm covering:
- the notebook
- yours, mine & ours
- suddenly 30 (13 going on 30)
i have rated some movies the last time, but this time, the star rating is more serious. hehe...
the notebookrating: 9.0/10
this is seriously one of the best movies i have seen. when i first saw the dvd, it does not attract me, because i'm not a person who appreciates a very-romantic-50s kind of movie. but this is different. this movie touched me deeply. ryan and rachel did perform wonderfully together. i love both of them together. the storyline also flows. the fact that the movie keeps on flashback-ing to the past, and then going back to the future makes me even more so curious about the ending. the beginning scenes really set the melancholy mood for the story. and the ending is really touching and spectacular. to me, the ending is unexpected. i was imagining a happy ending, but it turned out to be a sad (yet don't know why, happy) ending. however, it was not unexpected that the old woman was the old man's wife. so, the part when the old man's family came does not shock me much. also, i do not appreciate the sexual scenes in the movie, for i find it a little disturbing. however, the movie has a very good plot and overall, i have to say that it is a spectacular masterpiece.
yours, mine & oursrating: 7.2/10
or i would like to call it "cheaper by the 1.5 dozen". this movie is alright for me. it's an up-size version of "cheaper by the dozen", and that means up-size the fun. the comedy in this movie is awesome. although some of the physical humour of this movie is common slapsticks, i love the most of them. the best thing about this movie for me is the pig. i love the pig so much. very nice touch to the comedy. however, i just couldn't find this movie very realistic and therefore, doesn't attract me so much like "cheaper by the dozen". i was also confused when the single parents suddenly said that they are married. i guess the storyline does not really flow in this movie. plus, i have a feeling that the timing of the scenes are a little wrong. overall, although the storyline needs a little work, the movie is a pleasant comedy for the whole family.
suddenly 30 (a.k.a. 13 going on 30)rating: 8.8/10
jennifer garner really played well in this movie as a young girl who suddenly aged by 17 years in just a blink of the eye. i love her so much in this movie. although the story is not realistic, jennifer played the part as if it is possible to buy a wish from a shop. the storyline for this movie is funky. to me, the twists are not expected, and this makes it so fun to watch. the soundtracks for this movie is very well-picked because they, not only express the 1980s sensation, but also are able to attract anyone watching this movie. however, a flaw hit me big in this movie: the wishing dust. if matt said that jenna threw the house at him, why was there still so much wishing dust in the house after he fixed the house again? well, despite so, the story is still a sparkle to my heart for it just show the true meaning of friendship and relationship.
well, i have watched a lot of movies lahh.. just very lazy to review more of them now.. hehee... maybe, next time.. =P
God bless you all!
